Downs' Photography: About the Downs

Lisa and Greg Downs are both serious photographers that love to travel and photograph. They are both certified SCUBA divers and love to take their cameras underwater. They travel together as often as possible in search for the perfect image.

Lisa Downs
Lisa’s been a photographer since she was 12 years old. Her first camera was a Canon AE-1 – a camera that her dad had and didn’t want to fuss with, so Lisa got it. Lisa’s natural love for animals is a natural fit with her love of photography – trying to capture nature as it is. Lisa’s favorite photographic subjects are animals and landscapes.

Lisa runs the day to day operations of Artistic Oasis. She does all the production, e-mail correspondence, phone correspondence, etc. Lisa is the one that does all the scanning and any painting of the photographs. She is also a volunteer for several local charities – Valley of the Kings, Illinois Alaskan Malamute Rescue, Labrador Education and Rescue Network, and is a trained volunteer with Noah’s Wish.

Greg Downs
Greg has been a photographer since his early 20s – in his Navy days when he was stationed on Oahu. His favorite subjects are sunsets and architecture.

On a daily basis, when he is not shooting, Greg is a registered patent attorney and works with a company researching alternative energy sources and fuels. His dream is to create an inexpensive energy source for everyone to use. Greg is also very interested in the outdoors and regularly bike rides. Greg is a 3rd degree black belt in the art of Tae Kwon Do and teaches regularly at a local school.
